Dhaka, Feb 14 (V7N) — Biman Bangladesh Airlines has announced a special discount on fares for expatriate workers traveling to Saudi Arabia and Malaysia. This initiative, called "Worker Fair," will be effective from February 10 and remain valid until June 30, 2025.

According to Biman's official notification released on Thursday (February 13), the one-way ticket price (excluding taxes) for flights from Dhaka to Jeddah, Medina, and Riyadh has been fixed at just US$360. The Dhaka-Kuala Lumpur route will cost even less, at US$150.

This discount is a significant relief for expatriates, as current ticket prices for Saudi Arabia range between US$430 and US$480, while Kuala Lumpur tickets cost around US$360. The introduction of this new fare structure will substantially reduce travel costs for workers.

To avail of this benefit, passengers must present a BMET clearance card or a BMET-certified visa. However, those traveling for Umrah, family visits, or on residence visas will not be eligible for the discount.

Tickets under the "Worker Fair" offer can be purchased from any Biman Bangladesh Airlines sales center or designated travel agencies.

Meanwhile, social media discussions highlight the challenges faced by expatriate workers. A recent post by Hasnat Abdullah mentioned that numerous workers have been voicing their concerns daily, urging authorities to address expatriate issues promptly.

This initiative by Biman Bangladesh Airlines is expected to ease the financial burden on Bangladeshi expatriates, who contribute significantly to the country's economy through remittances.
