Comilla, Feb 17 (V7N) – Shafiqul Alam, Press Secretary to the Chief Advisor, has strongly criticized Indian media for their coverage of the July Revolution in Bangladesh, stating that their reports were misleading and full of falsehoods. He asserted that the documentaries produced during the movement serve as a “slap in the face” to such misinformation.
He made these remarks while speaking as the chief negotiator at the 11th founding anniversary of the Comilla University Journalists Association on Sunday (February 17). The event also marked the handing over of responsibilities to the newly elected committee.
Comilla University Journalists Association President Zubair Rahman presided over the event, while Comilla University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Haider Ali attended as the chief guest.
Others present included Netra News Editor-in-Chief Tasneem Khalil, Comilla University Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Masuda Kamal, Comilla University Treasurer Professor Dr. Mohammad Solaiman, and former association presidents Shafiullah and Zahid Hasan.
Shafiqul Alam emphasized that the July Revolution was a people’s movement, and the truth about it cannot be distorted by external propaganda. "The real stories of the revolution are documented and will stand as historical evidence against those who tried to manipulate the narrative," he stated.
The July Revolution in Bangladesh saw widespread protests demanding democratic reforms and fair governance, a movement that drew significant international attention.
