Dhaka, Feb 23 (V7N) – The government has withdrawn the prestigious BPM and PPM medals from 103 police officers, including former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun.

The decision was announced in an official notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs' Public Security Division on Sunday (February 23). The order was signed by Senior Assistant Secretary Toushif Ahmed, stating that the withdrawal was made by order of the President.

Reason for Withdrawal

According to the notification, the Bangladesh Police Medal (BPM-2018), Bangladesh Police Medal (BPM-Service), President's Police Medal (PPM), and President's Police Medal (PPM-Service) awarded to these officers have been revoked due to their direct involvement in the controversial 10th National Parliament election held on December 30, 2018.

The decision marks a significant step by the government in re-evaluating past awards and accountability within law enforcement agencies. However, no further comments have been made regarding possible additional actions against the affected officers.
