Dhaka, Mar 05 (V7N) – An earthquake struck Dhaka and various parts of Bangladesh on Wednesday at 11:39 AM, originating near the Myanmar-India border.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake had a magnitude of 5.6 on the Richter scale and was centered 294 kilometers from the Myanmar-India border.

While the tremor was widely felt, there have been no immediate reports of casualties or major damage.

Md. Rubaiyat Kabir, Officer-in-Charge of the Earthquake Observation and Research Center at the Meteorological Department, confirmed that the earthquake originated in the India-Myanmar border region and described it as a moderate earthquake.

This marks the fourth earthquake in the last 10 days in different parts of the country. Experts have noted an increase in small to moderate earthquakes in and around Bangladesh, raising concerns about the country’s seismic activity.
