Dhaka, Mar 06 (V7N) – The government will not tolerate any form of mob justice, and only law enforcement agencies have the authority to conduct operations, said Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury.
He made these remarks during a visit to the Tourist Police Headquarters on Thursday (March 6).
“The law enforcement agencies are actively working to suppress chaos. The government is taking strict measures to prevent any form of mob justice, but controlling such incidents also requires awareness at the family level,” he said.
The advisor also mentioned that security measures have been strengthened to prevent robbery and extortion during Eid.
Highlighting the challenges faced by the Tourist Police, he acknowledged issues such as manpower shortages and a housing crisis. He assured that initiatives will be taken to address these problems.
“If the Tourist Police becomes more active, foreign tourists will feel safer visiting Bangladesh, which will significantly boost the country's economy,” he added.
