Dhaka, Mar 06 (V7N) – The interim government has nominated eight distinguished individuals for the Independence Award 2025, recognizing their outstanding contributions at the national level.
The Cabinet Division revealed the names of the recipients on Thursday (March 6).
This year's Swadhinata Padak (Independence Award) recipients are:
- Lt. Col. (Retd.) M. A. G. Osmani (Posthumously) – War of Independence and Liberation
- Azam Khan (Posthumously) – Culture (Pop Music)
- Badruddin Omar – Literature and History
- Sir Fazle Hasan Abed (Posthumously) – Social Service (Founder of BRAC)
- Novera Ahmed (Posthumously) – Sculpture
- Poet Al Mahmud (Posthumously) – Literature
- Professor Jamal Nazrul Islam – Physics
- Abrar Fahad (Posthumously) – Student Contribution
The Independence Award is the highest civilian honor in Bangladesh, given annually since 1977 on March 26—Bangladesh's Independence Day—to recognize outstanding contributions in various national fields. Institutions can also receive the award for their significant contributions.
