Dhaka, Mar 07 (V7N)- The Bangladesh Police Headquarters has reaffirmed that all activities of the banned organization Hizb ut-Tahrir will be considered punishable offenses under the law.
In a statement issued to the media on Friday (March 7), police authorities emphasized that any attempt to organize meetings, rallies, processions, or distribute materials related to Hizb ut-Tahrir would be a violation of the Anti-Terrorism Act-2009.
Citing legal provisions, police sources clarified that any activities associated with organizations declared banned under the Anti-Terrorism Act-2009 would lead to legal consequences.
The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) had earlier reiterated this stance in a press release on Thursday (March 6), reminding that Hizb ut-Tahrir was banned on October 22, 2009, due to threats to public security.
The DMP stated that meetings, rallies, processions, poster distribution, and any form of propaganda by banned organizations would be strictly dealt with.
It has been reported that Hizb ut-Tahrir planned a 'March for Khilafat' at the north gate of Baitul Mukarram in Dhaka today. In response, the DMP issued a strong warning and assured that necessary legal measures would be taken against any violations.
Authorities have urged the public to refrain from engaging with banned organizations and warned of legal action against anyone found supporting or promoting them.
