Dhaka, Mar 09 (V7N)- The Bangladesh government has decided to take a tough stance against 'mob justice', warning that anyone involved in such acts will face legal consequences. The announcement was made by Mahfuz Alam, advisor to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, at a press briefing at the Ministry of Law in the Secretariat on Sunday (March 9).
Mahfuz Alam emphasized that justice will be served equally, regardless of a person’s background.
"The law is blind—criminals will be judged based on their actions, not their caste, religion, gender, or status," he stated.
He made it clear that anyone involved in mob justice—regardless of their beliefs or affiliations—will be brought under the law.
The government has also warned of strict measures against any form of public disorder, including mob violence, police station sieges, and other anarchic situations.
"If a situation arises where mob justice is being carried out or if there is any kind of unrest, we will take an extremely strict stance. Law enforcement has been directed to take appropriate legal action, including arrests," Mahfuz Alam stated.
The government has vowed to review previous cases of mob justice and take action where possible.
"We will adopt a zero-tolerance approach—not just against mob justice, but also against robbery, land grabbing, and all forms of instability and anarchy," he added.
This move signals the government’s commitment to enforcing law and order. Authorities are expected to implement stronger legal measures and strict policing to prevent mob justice and ensure justice through proper legal channels.
