Dhaka, Mar 10 (V7N) – Professor Dr. M Aminul Islam, Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor (State Minister rank) in charge of the Ministry of Education, has resigned from his position.
Speaking to the media on Monday, M Aminul Islam confirmed that he had submitted his resignation to the Cabinet Division.
The interim government, led by Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus, was formed on August 8 last year following the fall of the Awami League government in a student uprising. Over the past seven months, several reshuffles and new appointments have taken place in the advisory council.
With M Aminul Islam's resignation, the interim government now consists of:
- 23 advisors, including the Chief Advisor
- 1 special assistant (Defense and National Integration Development)
- 1 special envoy (International Affairs)
- 1 high representative (Rohingya and Priority Issues)
- 4 special assistants (State Minister rank) in charge of Home Affairs, Health, Road Transport and Bridges, and Posts, Telecommunications & IT
Before joining the interim government, Dr. M Aminul Islam was the Vice-Chancellor of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST). He previously taught in the Department of Physics at Rajshahi University.
His resignation marks another significant change in the structure of the interim administration, raising questions about the stability and future of the government.
