Dhaka, Mar 17 (V7N)-  Chinese solar panel giant Longi has decided to set up an office and invest in solar power generation in Bangladesh, according to Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen.

Longi is one of the world's largest manufacturers of solar panels and renewable energy solutions.

The decision follows a visit by Chinese solar industry representatives in December, at the invitation of Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus.

During the visit, Bangladesh was explored as a potential hub for solar manufacturing and energy projects.

Ambassador Yao Wen stated that at least two Chinese companies from the solar energy sector have decided to establish offices and factories in Bangladesh.

A special Chinese Export Processing Zone (EPZ) is set to launch soon, which will further encourage Chinese investments in the country.

Since the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government on August 5, Chinese companies have emerged as the largest investors in Bangladesh.

More Chinese companies are waiting to invest, particularly in the renewable energy and manufacturing sectors.

The Chief Advisor's upcoming visit to China is expected to be a historic milestone in the 50-year relationship between the two nations.

Dr. Yunus emphasized that Bangladesh could become a leading manufacturing hub, especially for exporting products to Western markets.

He welcomed more Chinese investment in solar power and renewable energy projects, as the country seeks to expand its green energy sector.
