Dhaka, Mar 18 (V7N) – Bangladesh’s economy, once on the brink of crisis, has now begun to recover, according to Finance Advisor Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed. He made this statement while speaking to reporters after a meeting of the Advisory Council on Government Procurement at the Secretariat on Tuesday.

"The economy is no longer on the edge of a crisis," Dr. Salehuddin stated. "Earlier, it was at risk, but we have been working to pull it back. Now, it has turned around, and many are looking at Bangladesh. Although there are some mistakes, the overall situation is satisfactory."

He reaffirmed that Bangladesh remains on track to graduate from the Least Developed Country (LDC) status by 2026. Addressing concerns over the recent comments by US intelligence chief Tulsi Gabbard regarding Bangladesh, he assured that economic relations with the US will not be affected.

Regarding import and customs clearance, Dr. Salehuddin stated that previous bottlenecks had been resolved. He noted that some traders attempt to manipulate the system, but the government is actively working to maintain control and ensure smooth operations in trade and procurement.

With ongoing efforts to stabilize the economy, the finance advisor expressed optimism about Bangladesh's future economic prospects.
