Dhaka, Mar 19 (V7N) – The market situation has stabilized as the government and relevant institutions work together, said Commerce Advisor Sheikh Bashiruddin. However, he emphasized that the government is actively working to control the rice market.

The advisor made these remarks at a seminar on the future of Bangladesh's export sector after graduating from the Least Developed Country (LDC) status. The event was held on Wednesday afternoon (March 19, 2025).

Key Highlights from His Speech:

  • Controlling the Rice Market: The government is closely monitoring the situation and taking necessary steps to prevent price instability.
  • Addressing Corruption: While eradicating corruption entirely is difficult, stricter measures are being enforced to limit its impact.
  • Export Over Imports: The advisor urged businesses to focus on expanding exports rather than increasing imports.
  • Post-LDC Graduation Opportunities: Sheikh Bashiruddin highlighted that Bangladesh’s graduation from LDC status in November 2026 presents more opportunities than challenges. He urged all sectors to work together to ensure a smooth transition.

The government is committed to economic stability and will continue implementing measures to support businesses and control essential commodity prices.
