Mexico City, Mar 22 (V7N)- Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Mexico, Mushfiqul Fazal Ansari, held a bilateral meeting with Mexican Deputy Foreign Minister Maria Teresa Mercado Perez to explore new avenues for cooperation and further strengthen ties between the two nations.

The meeting, held at the Mexican Foreign Ministry on Friday, focused on enhancing diplomatic and commercial relations. Deputy Foreign Minister Maria Teresa congratulated Ambassador Mushfiqul Fazal on the successful presentation of his credentials to Mexican President Dr. Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo and reiterated Mexico’s commitment to deepening its relationship with Bangladesh.

Both leaders acknowledged the upcoming 50th anniversary of Bangladesh-Mexico diplomatic relations in 2025 as a significant milestone. Ambassador Mushfiqul Fazal proposed joint initiatives and celebrations to mark the occasion, emphasizing the growing friendship between the two countries.

Discussions also included plans to hold the third Foreign Office Consultation in Mexico in late August or early September 2025. The consultation aims to expand engagement in various sectors, including trade, agriculture, and cultural exchanges.

Ambassador Mushfiqul Fazal stressed the importance of finalizing Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) on agriculture, defense, visa waivers, football, and double taxation avoidance. Additionally, he urged Mexico to establish an embassy in Dhaka, citing the increasing economic and diplomatic interactions between the two nations.

Deputy Foreign Minister Maria Teresa Mercado Perez assured full cooperation from Mexico, reaffirming the country’s commitment to strengthening ties with Bangladesh.
