Dhaka, Mar 24 (V7N) – The Interim Government's Chief Advisor, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, will present the Independence Award 2025, the highest civilian honor in Bangladesh, on Tuesday (March 25) at 10:30 AM at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital.
According to a press release from the Department of Information, seven distinguished individuals have been selected for this prestigious award in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the nation. The Cabinet Division officially announced the list of recipients on March 11.
Recipients of the Independence Award 2025
1. Professor Jamal Nazrul Islam (Posthumous) – For contributions to Science and Technology
2. Mir Abdus Shukur Al Mahmud (Posthumous) – For contributions to Literature
3. Novera Ahmed (Posthumous) – For contributions to Culture
4. Sir Fazle Hasan Abed (Posthumous) – For contributions to Social Service
5. Mohammad Mahbubul Haque Khan alias Azam Khan (Posthumous) – For contributions to the Liberation War and Culture
6. Badruddin Mohammad Umar – For contributions to Education and Research
7. Abrar Fahad (Posthumous) – Recognized as a Symbol of Protest and Youth Movement
The Independence Award is given every year by the Government of Bangladesh to individuals and organizations for their exceptional contributions in various fields, including science, literature, culture, education, and social service. The ceremony is expected to be attended by high-ranking government officials, dignitaries, and family members of the awardees.
