Dhaka, Mar 25 (V7N) – A Khulna court on Monday asked the authorities to freeze bank accounts, FDRs, and National Saving Certificates worth Tk8.1 crore belonging to former Khulna City Corporation (KCC) mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque and his wife Habibun Nahar, former MP of Bagerhat-3.

Khulna Metropolitan and Session Judge Sharif Hossain Haidar passed the order after hearing a petition filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), said Deputy Director Md Abdul Wadud.

During its investigation, the ACC found Tk 8.1 crore belonging to Khaleque and his wife in different banks including IFIC Bank, BASIC Bank, Agrani Bank, and Standard Bank.

Besides, a number of FDRs and saving certificates were also found in their name.

On December 24, a graft allegation was found against the removed former KCC mayor.
