Dhaka, Mar 27 (V7N) -Preparations for the Eid procession are in full swing, according to Local Government, Rural Development, and Cooperatives Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain.
He shared this information in a Facebook post on Wednesday night.
Adviser Asif Mahmud wrote: "Preparations for the Eid procession are in full swing. Despite time constraints, the Local Government Division, Ministry of Culture, and Dhaka North City Corporation are working tirelessly day and night."
He further said: "Even the legendary Airavat (mythical elephant) is joining the procession—are you coming too?"
Earlier, on Sunday, during a press conference at the Buriganga Conference Room of the Nagar Bhaban in Dhaka, Adviser Asif Mahmud announced that the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) would organize the Eid congregation for residents of the northern part of the capital at the old trade fair ground in Agargaon. Several hundred thousand people are expected to participate in the Eid prayers there.
After the Eid prayer, there will be a festive Eid procession following the traditions of the Sultanate and Mughal eras. Additionally, to celebrate Eid in a fresh and grand manner after the fall of the fascist government, an Eid fair and cultural programs will also be organized.
The adviser further said: "The main Eid congregation in our country is traditionally held at the National Eidgah ground. However, people from Mohammadpur, Mirpur, and North Dhaka often cannot attend. Hence, Dhaka North City is organizing this event. People from South Dhaka can also join the Eid procession and Eid fair after their prayers."
Dhaka North City Corporation Administrator Mohammad Ejaz stated that an Eid congregation will be held at 8am at the old trade fair ground, where several hundred thousand worshippers can pray together.
Arrangements will also be made for women to participate in the prayers.
To make the Eid procession more traditional, elephants, horses, and a marching band will take part in the celebration.
