BANDARBAN, April 12, (V7N): Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Division Adviser Dr Asif Nazrul on Saturday assured that the interim government will address the longstanding shortage of judges and improve judicial logistics during its tenure.

“There is a crisis over the shortage of judges and logistics. We have assumed office very recently. It takes time to make the appointment. The crisis will be resolved,” Dr Nazrul told reporters after inspecting land acquired for the future Chief Judicial Court in Bandarban.

He was accompanied by Bandarban District and Sessions Judge Md Zamiul Haider, Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Begum Zebunnahar Aisha, and Chief Judicial Magistrate Muhammad Siraj Uddin Iqbal during the inspection.

Speaking further, Dr Nazrul said the government is currently reviewing whether family court cases could be referred to arbitration. “No decision has been made yet. If arbitration is not viable, the cases will be handled by the courts, which may reduce the pressure on the judiciary,” he added.

Following the inspection, Dr Nazrul joined a views-exchange meeting on judicial infrastructure development held at the District and Sessions Judge Court. Local officials discussed pending issues and proposed future plans to strengthen the justice delivery system in the district.

At the conclusion of the program, representatives of the Bangladesh Judicial Employees Association, Bandarban District branch, submitted a memorandum addressed to the Chief Adviser, outlining their demands and proposals for administrative and logistical improvements.
