In advance of the 12th parliamentary election, which is set to take place on Sunday, Habiganj saw more than fifty cocktail explosions in various locations throughout the town on Saturday night.
The district election office was among the locations where the cocktails detonated, according to Ajay Chandra Dev, the officer-in-charge (OC) of the Habiganj police station.
Additionally, at around 8 p.m., a fight broke out between police and adherents of a 48-hour blockage that was imposed by the BNP and other like-minded political parties on Poil Road in the Shayestaganj area of the Habiganj district.
During that time, an Awami League candidate's temporary office and two motorcycles were set on fire. During the altercation, members of the BNP and other political groups with similar ideologies also damaged a workshop.
Locals reported that three cocktails detonated in the district election office, but no one was hurt.
To get everything under control, police fired 50 rounds of rubber bullets and tear gas cells.
The OC said, "The situation is now normal."
