On the eve of the occasion, President Mohammed Shahabuddin and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina issued separate messages extending greetings to women worldwide.
Various media outlets, including Bangladesh Television, Bangladesh Betar, and private television channels, dedicated special programs to mark the day.
International Women's Day, observed annually on March 8, commemorates the women's movement and their ongoing struggle for equality in the face of entrenched patriarchy.
To honor the contributions of women in different fields, five individuals will be awarded during the International Women's Day ceremony. Each awardee will receive a cheque of Tk1 lakh, along with a crest, shawl, and certificate.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is slated to attend the event as the chief guest, which will be held at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium at 10 am.
