Dhaka, Apr 18 (V7N)- The interim government's Foreign Affairs Advisor, Touhid Hossain, stated that the incidents of July-August have had a notable impact on Bangladesh's foreign policy, and the government is determined to take necessary diplomatic steps to strengthen the country’s position in the international arena.
He made the remarks while addressing a program organized at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka on the occasion of Foreign Service Day 2025 on Friday.
“Many battles must be fought behind closed doors. Despite challenges and limitations, our missions are providing services to over ten million Bangladeshi expatriates worldwide,” said the foreign affairs advisor.
Touhid Hossain also stressed the importance of creating international pressure to facilitate the repatriation of Rohingya refugees. He pointed out that 80 percent of the problems faced by Bangladeshi migrants originate in Dhaka, while the remaining 20 percent occur in the host countries.
“Even though our embassies are understaffed, they are expected to resolve 100 percent of expatriate issues,” he added.
The day's program began in the morning with the hoisting of the national flag at the Foreign Service Academy. Veteran diplomat and former ambassador Humayun Kabir delivered the keynote speech.
