Doha, Apr 22 (V7N)- Qatar has announced its decision to recruit 725 Bangladeshi army personnel to serve in various sectors of the country, according to Shafiqul Alam, Press Secretary to the Chief Advisor of the interim government. He shared the development with reporters on Tuesday afternoon (April 22) during the ongoing Arthana Summit 2025 in Doha.

Shafiqul Alam noted that Bangladeshi military personnel have a long-standing record of professional service in Kuwait, and Qatar has now shown interest in a similar arrangement. “Qatar will take 725 army personnel every three years,” he said, adding, “We are working to increase this number further.”

Alam expressed optimism that the first batch of personnel could be deployed within the next two months, marking a significant boost in defense and diplomatic relations between Dhaka and Doha.

A high-level delegation led by Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Chief Advisor to the interim government of Bangladesh, is currently visiting Qatar to attend the Arthana Summit 2025. The recruitment initiative was reportedly finalized as part of bilateral discussions held on the sidelines of the summit.

This move is expected to strengthen military cooperation and create new employment opportunities for skilled Bangladeshi defense personnel in the Gulf region.
