Dhaka, Apr 24 (V7N)- Trade Advisor Sheikh Bashir Uddin has expressed optimism that Bangladesh’s export performance will remain stable despite India's recent move to cancel transshipment facilities. Speaking at the inauguration of the two-day 'Meet Bangladesh Exposition' on Thursday (April 24), he noted that efforts are being intensified to reduce export costs by enhancing domestic capacity utilization.

The international exposition, organized under the ECFORJ project of the Ministry of Commerce, kicked off at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB). The event aims to connect Bangladeshi exporters with global sourcing agents and buyers.

More than 25 international sourcing agents and buyers from over 9 countries, including Singapore, Libya, Colombia, Algeria, UAE, India, Bhutan, Maldives, and Malaysia, are participating in the expo.

The event features over 120 Bangladeshi companies from various promising export sectors, including:

  • Leather and leather goods

  • Footwear

  • Medical and personal protective equipment (MPPE)

  • Plastics

  • Light engineering products

Following the exhibition, international buyers are scheduled to visit local manufacturing facilities, aiming to deepen their engagement with Bangladesh’s export industries. Organizers hope the initiative will enhance Bangladesh’s image as a competitive sourcing hub and attract increased foreign investment.

Trade Advisor Sheikh Bashir Uddin emphasized that while the geopolitical changes pose challenges, Bangladesh is proactively expanding trade routes and boosting productivity. “We’re focused on resilience and self-reliance in trade logistics. Our export growth will not be compromised,” he assured.
