Doha, Apr 24 (V7N)- Nobel Laureate and Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus has warned that the current self-centered global civilization is on a path to destruction due to unsustainable practices and systemic inequality. He made the statement while speaking on his visionary concept of a 'Three Zeros' world at a special session titled “Building a World of Three Zeros: Zero Net Carbon Emissions, Zero Wealth Concentration, and Zero Unemployment” at Qatar University on Thursday (April 24).

In his address, Dr. Yunus emphasized that the existing system generates global waste and inequality, which will eventually lead to humanity's downfall. “This civilization is producing massive waste everywhere. It is a ticking time bomb,” he cautioned.

However, Dr. Yunus offered a hopeful vision, stating that a global transformation is possible if nations and societies commit to the Three Zeros framework. He encouraged the youth to move away from traditional job-seeking mindsets and instead embrace entrepreneurship and innovation to build a sustainable and inclusive future.

“Poverty is not created by the poor, it is created by the system,” Dr. Yunus said, reinforcing his long-held belief that economic structures must be reimagined to foster equity.

He also inspired young people to be dreamers and changemakers, urging them to write social fiction in addition to science fiction to explore and highlight contemporary societal challenges.

Following his speech, Dr. Yunus is scheduled to meet Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani for a bilateral discussion, where they are expected to discuss topics related to sustainable development, youth empowerment, and global cooperation.

Dr. Yunus’s “Three Zeros” vision continues to gain traction globally as a blueprint for a fairer, greener, and more equitable world.
