Raushan Ershad has been elected as the chairman of her faction of the Jatiya Party, with Kazi Mamunur Rashid assuming the role of secretary general. The announcement came during the national council presided over by Jatiya Party Co-Chairman Kazi Firoz Rashid at the Institute of Engineering and Technology in Dhaka on Saturday.
Following the proceedings, Fakhruzzaman Jahangir, another presidium member of the party, unveiled the names of other senior leaders. Kazi Firoz Rashid was elected as the executive chairman, while Syed Abu Hossain was appointed as the senior co-chairman. Additionally, Shahidur Rahman, Shafiqul Islam Sentu, Rahgir Almahe Saad Ershad, Golam Sarwar Milon, and Sunil Shuvo Roy were appointed as co-chairmen.
Earlier announcements by leaders of Raushan Ershad-led faction had indicated the scheduling of the national council for Saturday, referred to as the "10th National Council of Jatiya Party." Raushan Ershad explained the change in date due to pre-Ramadan formalities and logistical considerations.
Notably, Raushan Ershad had declared herself as the chairman of the party on January 28, relieving the incumbent party chief and secretary general from their positions. She also appointed Kazi Mamunur Rashid as the secretary general, signaling a new leadership direction for the Jatiya Party faction.
