Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen has appealed for Belarus’s assistance in finalizing a free trade agreement with the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC).

He encouraged Belarusian entrepreneurs to consider investing in Bangladesh's special economic zones and high-tech parks.

These matters arose during the fifth round of foreign office consultations between Bangladesh and Belarus at the State Guest House Padma on Sunday.

Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen and Evgeny Shestakov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, led their respective delegations.

Expressing gratitude, the foreign secretary thanked the Belarusian people, formerly part of the USSR, for their support during Bangladesh’s War of Liberation in 1971.

Both sides expressed satisfaction with the current state of bilateral relations and hoped to further strengthen and deepen ties in the future.

The Belarusian delegation expressed interest in importing labor from Bangladesh and offering more Bangladeshi students opportunities for higher education in Belarus.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that both sides emphasized the importance of completing procedures for signing pending bilateral agreements.

During the consultations, various aspects of bilateral relations, including agricultural, educational, and military cooperation, as well as collaboration in science, technology, and legal matters, were discussed.
