Tokyo, May 30 (V7N) – On the third day of his official visit to Japan, Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus held a bilateral meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba on Friday (May 30) to discuss strengthening cooperation between the two nations.
The meeting took place at 11:30 AM local time at the Japanese Prime Minister’s Office, where Prof. Yunus was welcomed with a guard of honor, underscoring the significance Japan places on its relationship with Bangladesh.
During the talks, the Chief Advisor urged Prime Minister Ishiba to broaden existing collaborations across economic, technological, and development sectors, emphasizing the mutual benefits of deeper engagement. The leaders discussed trade, infrastructure, climate resilience, and youth empowerment initiatives, among other key areas.
This high-level meeting is seen as part of Bangladesh’s strategic efforts to enhance diplomatic and economic relations with major global partners, particularly in Asia.
Prof. Yunus, who arrived in Tokyo on May 27 for a four-day official visit, is scheduled to depart Japan on Saturday morning via Singapore Airlines, and is expected to return to Dhaka late that night.
This visit marks a continued commitment from both Bangladesh and Japan to fortify their long-standing bilateral relationship, with renewed focus on innovation, sustainability, and inclusive growth.
