DHAKA, June 20 (V7N) – As of today, a total of 38,232 Bangladeshi Hajj pilgrims have successfully returned home from Saudi Arabia, following the peaceful completion of the holy Hajj rituals on June 5. This figure includes the 1,631 pilgrims expected to arrive in Dhaka today via four flights, bringing the total number of return flights to 96.
According to official data from the Dhaka Hajj office, out of the returned pilgrims, 5,006 traveled under government management, while 31,595 utilized private arrangements.
Tragically, 36 Bangladeshi pilrims have passed away in Saudi Arabia so far this Hajj season. Among the deceased, 27 were males and 9 were females. The majority of these deaths occurred in Makkah (23), followed by Madinah (11), with one death each reported in Jeddah and Arafat.
Airlines are diligently working to repatriate the pilgrims. Biman Bangladesh Airlines has so far transported 14,182 pilgrims on 36 flights, Saudi national carrier Saudia Airlines has brought back 15,458 pilgrims through 39 flights, and Saudi-based Flynas Airlines has returned 6,961 pilgrims on 18 flights. In total, 93 return flights have been operated by these three carriers.
The Saudi medical centers have issued 60,658 automated prescriptions, and IT help desks have provided 23,195 service interventions to assist pilgrims during their stay in the Kingdom. Saudi public hospitals have treated a total of 270 Bangladeshi pilgrims, with 25 still undergoing medical care as of now.
This year's Hajj operations commenced with the first outbound flight on April 29 and concluded on May 31. The Ministry of Religious Affairs had approved 70 Hajj agencies to facilitate the pilgrimage. Bangladesh's Hajj quota for 2025 included 5,200 government-managed pilgrims and 81,900 under private management, totaling 87,100 pilgrims.
The return phase for pilgrims began on June 10 and is scheduled to continue until July 10. Authorities from the Hajj office are closely monitoring the ongoing repatriation and healthcare efforts to ensure the safe and dignified return of all pilgrims to Bangladesh.
