Hasan Mahmud, the joint general secretary of the Awami League and minister of information, was unofficially elected to a fourth term in the Chattogram-7 constituency.
The results were released by the assistant returning officer on Sunday, January 7, at 9:30 p.m.
Iqbal Hasan, the Islami Front's closest competitor, received just 9,301 votes, compared to Hasan's 198,976 votes.
Candidates for the Jatiya Party, Khorshed Alam of the Trinamool BNP, Ahmed Reza of the Islamic Front, Morshed Alam of the Supreme Party, and 2,308 votes each for the Jatiya Party.
With 313,091 voters, the Chattogram-7 seat includes portions of Boalkhali upazila and Ranguniya.
On Sunday, Bangladesh held elections to choose its new government. From 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., there was ballooning, interspersed by violent occurrences. Unofficial results that have been in since the evening indicate that the Awami League is expected to hold onto power.
