Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina urged guardians to cultivate friendly relationships with their children as a means to protect them from societal menaces such as terrorism, militancy, drug abuse, and corruption. Speaking at an event organized in Tungipara, Gopalganj, to celebrate the 104th birthday anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children's Day-2024, she emphasized the importance of instilling honesty in children from an early age.

Hasina stressed the significance of engaging children in extracurricular activities like sports, painting, music, and religious education alongside their academic studies. She urged guardians and teachers to foster an environment where children can develop their talents and imbibe human values.

Emphasizing a balanced approach to education, the Prime Minister cautioned against putting undue pressure on children in the name of academic success. She advocated for integrating sports into the curriculum to facilitate the holistic development of children.

Highlighting the role of technology in education, Hasina noted that in the era of Digital Bangladesh, children have access to a wealth of knowledge through digital devices. She emphasized the importance of utilizing technology to enhance learning experiences and create smarter citizens for a Smart Bangladesh.

The event, organized by the Women and Children Affairs Ministry under the management of Gopalganj district administration, aimed to promote the theme "Bringing Smiles to Every Home by Realizing Bangabandhu's Dream." State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Simeen Hussain (Rimi) and Women and Children Affairs Secretary Nazma Mobarek, among others, addressed the gathering.

The Prime Minister distributed prizes to winners of various competitions and provided financial assistance to insolvent students as part of the celebration. The event also included the screening of a documentary titled 'Bangabandhu and Children Rights.'
