Health Minister Dr. Samanta Lal Sen emphasized the critical role of public awareness in preventing major mishaps, stating that even with numerous burn units, lives may still be lost without adequate awareness.
Speaking as the chief guest at an event titled "Increasing awareness of CPR among the general public," organized by Swadhinata Chikitsak Parishad (Swachip) at Bashundhara City Shopping Complex in Dhaka on Sunday, Dr. Samanta highlighted the importance of vigilance for safety.
He pointed out that the recent casualties in the Bailey Road fire tragedy were primarily due to suffocation rather than burn injuries, emphasizing the significance of immediate and proper treatment.
Dr. Samanta stressed the importance of CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), particularly in emergencies such as heart attacks, and expressed the government's commitment to collaborating with Swachip to educate people nationwide about CPR techniques.
Reflecting on the occasion of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's birth anniversary, Dr. Samanta urged remembrance of the father of the nation with reverence, emphasizing the humanity inherent in such recognition.
