Dhaka, Aug 05 (V7N) – Chief Advisor to the interim government, Professor Muhammad Yunus, delivered a powerful message on the occasion of July Uprising Day, calling for national unity to protect the dreams ignited by last year’s historic uprising and to resist ongoing conspiracies by fallen dictatorial forces.
“July has given us a new ray of hope — a dream of building a Bangladesh based on justice and equality, free from discrimination and corruption,” Yunus stated. “The opportunity for reform that the sacrifice of thousands of martyrs has given us must be protected at any cost.”
A Historic Day Remembered
Professor Yunus described August 5 as an “unforgettable day” in the history of Bangladesh, marking the fall of a 16-year-long fascist regime.
“A year ago today, the July Uprising was completed, and our beloved homeland was freed from long-standing fascist rule. I sincerely congratulate the people of Bangladesh whose unwavering movement brought us this historic victory,” he said.
He paid deep tribute to:
-
The youth, workers, daily wage earners, and professionals who laid down their lives.
-
The injured, disabled, and visually impaired July warriors.
-
All martyrs of the July uprising, whom the nation remembers with enduring gratitude.
Warning Against Conspiracies
Yunus warned that remnants of the previous regime are still conspiring to destabilize the country.
“The fallen dictatorship and its self-interested groups are still plotting to fail the country. Regardless of political affiliation, we must all unite to confront this conspiracy.”
He urged the nation to build a Bangladesh “where there will be no place for dictatorship anymore.”

Extensive reforms in all sectors of state machinery.

Path to Elections and Sustainable Politics
Yunus also reaffirmed the government's commitment to a peaceful democratic transition.
