Dhaka, Aug 26 (V7N) – Home Affairs Advisor Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said that joint forces will take immediate action following the pirate attack on a police camp in Gazaria, Munshiganj.
He made the remarks while speaking to journalists during the inauguration of the re-excavation work of Shubhadhya Canal in Keraniganj on Tuesday.
On Monday night, a group of pirates opened fire on police personnel stationed at a temporary camp in Gazaria. Police retaliated in self-defense, leading to an armed exchange that lasted about 30 minutes. No arrests have been made so far, but several weapons were reportedly looted during the assault.
“The joint forces will take immediate and strict action in this regard,” Chowdhury assured.
The Home Affairs Advisor also issued a stern warning to canal encroachers and polluters in the Shubhadhya Canal area, saying they would face tough measures.
“The number of land grabbers here is high. They must be suppressed with a strong hand. Arrangements will be made to keep these land grabbers in their own area’s prison,” he said, urging locals to build resistance against encroachment and pollution.
