Dhaka, Oct 04 (V7N) – While overall global apparel imports to the United States fell by 5.30 percent between 2015 and 2024, Bangladesh’s apparel exports to the U.S. surged by 26.62 percent during the same period, according to the latest data from the U.S. Office of Textiles and Apparel (OTEXA).

The report, confirmed by BSS on Saturday, highlights Bangladesh’s growing resilience and competitiveness in the U.S. market despite global trade contractions.

In comparison, China’s apparel exports to the U.S. dropped by 18.36 percent, while Vietnam and India saw robust growth of 32.96 percent and 34.13 percent, respectively. Indonesia’s exports fell by 19.82 percent, and Cambodia’s rose by 10.78 percent.

In terms of unit value, global U.S. apparel imports declined by 1.71 percent. China and India experienced price drops of 33.80 percent and 4.56 percent, respectively, whereas Vietnam and Indonesia saw increases of 6.64 percent and 7.38 percent. Cambodia recorded the highest surge in unit price—38.31 percent—while Bangladesh’s unit price rose by 7.30 percent.

Industry analysts noted that Bangladesh has successfully maintained a unit price level close to the global average, underscoring the country’s improving product quality, compliance standards, and value-added capabilities in the U.S. apparel market.
