Dhaka, Oct 05 (V7N) – There is no alternative to education in building a nation, and teachers are the backbone of that process. Through intellectual guidance, moral education, and the nurturing of human values, teachers shape generations and lay the foundation of a prosperous society. For these noble contributions, teachers are often called the true “craftsmen of humanity.”

Today, October 5, marks World Teachers’ Day, observed globally to honor teachers’ dedication and contributions to education and society.

Since 1995, World Teachers’ Day has been celebrated each year in all UNESCO member countries, including Bangladesh. The day aims to uphold teachers’ dignity, highlight their vital role in nation-building, and raise awareness of the need for quality education and improved working conditions for educators.

The observance originated at the 26th General Conference of UNESCO in Paris in 1993, where it was decided to designate October 5 as World Teachers’ Day. The day was first observed in 1994, and since then, UNESCO has approved a distinct global theme every year to mark the occasion.

In Bangladesh, the day is being celebrated with respect and enthusiasm, recognizing the invaluable role of teachers in shaping the country’s future through education and enlightenment.
