Dhaka, Oct 09 (V7N) – Advisor Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan is scheduled to testify today (Thursday) at the International Crimes Tribunal-1 on the 10th day of hearings in connection with the Chankharpul murder case that occurred on August 5.

Earlier, Asif Mahmud had given a statement to the investigation officer, where he revealed that members of the Detective Branch (DB) had forcibly recorded a video message from the coordinators of the July coup, claiming it would be shown to the then Prime Minister and Home Minister. However, that video was later leaked and circulated on social media.

In his earlier statement, Asif Mahmud also said that on July 19, during the internet shutdown, DGFI personnel tracked his phone and detained him. He remained missing for five days and, as he was blindfolded, could not identify his location. However, he later claimed that after August 5, he recognized the same room during a visit to the “Mirror House” alongside the Chief Advisor.

Meanwhile, the International Crimes Tribunal-2 is set to record testimonies in the Ashulia case, where six bodies were burned during the same period of unrest.
