State Minister for Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources, Nasrul Hamid, has expressed optimism regarding enhanced collaboration with Germany in the renewable energy sector as Bangladesh strives to achieve its ambitious goal of generating 40% of its electricity from clean sources by 2041.

Addressing stakeholders virtually following the conclusion of the 10th Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue (BETD), held at the Berlin headquarters of the Federal Foreign Office of Germany, Nasrul Hamid highlighted the importance of bolstering cooperation in renewable energy initiatives.

During the BETD, Nasrul Hamid engaged in three meetings with ministers from 70 countries, focusing on addressing challenges and implementing solutions in the realm of renewable energy and energy transition.

Key topics discussed included technology transfer, financial support, and Bangladesh's swift adoption of renewable energy sources. Nasrul Hamid emphasized the significance of Germany's assistance in expanding clean energy infrastructure in Bangladesh, particularly in light of the challenges and costs associated with renewable energy installations.

Meetings were held with high-ranking German officials, including the Foreign Minister and representatives from the Parliamentary Committee, to explore avenues for collaboration and support in Bangladesh's clean energy endeavors.

Nasrul Hamid reiterated Bangladesh's commitment to achieving its national target of 40% clean energy production by 2041, under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. He noted that Germany has recognized Bangladesh's progress in transitioning to clean energy and commended the government's strategic roadmap in this regard.
