Dhaka, Oct 18 (V7N) — Attorney General Md. Asaduzzaman has warned that Bangladesh will fall behind if attempts are made to undermine the July Charter by adopting the narrative of “defeated forces.”
He made the remarks while addressing a debate competition organized by Debate for Democracy as the chief guest on Saturday (October 18) morning.
The Attorney General said, “It is better not to engage in unnecessary debate over the July Charter, as there is room for further amendment.” He assured that the trial of the July murders will continue through the normal judicial process, despite delays in implementing the charter’s provisions.
“The trial will not be hindered in any way,” he asserted.
Acknowledging the disagreements that arose during the signing of the July National Charter, Asaduzzaman described them as a challenge but emphasized the importance of implementing the charter while respecting differing opinions.
Leaders of various political parties signed the July National Charter-2025 on Friday, followed by the signature of Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus.
Although 33 political parties participated in drafting the charter, several left-wing groups, including the National Citizens Party (NCP), Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB), Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal (BSD), BSD (Marxist), and Bangladesh JSD, boycotted the signing ceremony.
