Dhaka, Nov 11 (V7N) — Law enforcement agencies have tightened security at the International Crimes Tribunal and National Eidgah grounds to prevent any possible acts of sabotage ahead of the November 13 verdict in the case against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
A heavy police presence was observed at the entrances to both the tribunal and Eidgah grounds since Tuesday morning.
Earlier on Monday, the Supreme Court administration issued a directive banning the entry of outsiders into the National Eidgah grounds to ensure the overall security of the Supreme Court, International Crimes Tribunal, Attorney General’s Office, and Supreme Court Bar Association building.
Police officials said that Awami League leaders and activists have been involved in recent incidents of sabotage in the capital, allegedly centering around the upcoming verdict. In addition, a hartal (general strike) has been called for November 13, coinciding with the date of the verdict.
