The United Arab Emirates (UAE) marked Bangladesh's Independence Day by illuminating its iconic landmarks, including the Burj Khalifa, with the vibrant red and green hues of the Bangladeshi national flag.

On March 26, significant structures such as the Burj Khalifa in Dubai and the ADNOC headquarters in Abu Dhabi were adorned with the colors of the Bangladesh flag as a symbolic gesture of solidarity and to commemorate the occasion.

The UAE embassy emphasized that this gesture aims to strengthen bilateral harmony and honor significant moments shared with Bangladesh. UAE Ambassador to Bangladesh, Abdulla Ali AlHmoudi, highlighted the enduring friendship between the two nations, noting the steady strengthening of bilateral relations since Bangladesh's independence in 1971.

With over a million Bangladeshi expatriates residing in the UAE, representing the second-largest community of non-resident Bangladeshis globally, the ties between the two countries extend beyond diplomatic relations. Bangladeshis in the UAE contribute significantly to various sectors, including as workers and professionals in fields such as healthcare, engineering, education, finance, and technology.

Additionally, the UAE stands as the leading source of remittances to Bangladesh, underscoring the deep economic ties and mutual support between the two nations. As both countries celebrate 50 years of formal diplomatic relations, there is a shared commitment to further enhancing cooperation and collaboration across various domains in the years to come.
