Dhaka, Dec 28 (V7N) — In line with a recent Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the United States and Bangladesh, a ship carrying 56,890 tons of wheat has arrived at the outer anchorage of Chittagong port, the Food Ministry announced on Sunday.

Bangladesh has been importing wheat from the United States under a government-to-government (G2G) agreement. This shipment marks the first under the second MoU, which covers a total of 220,000 tons of wheat. Of the 56,890 tons, 34,134 tons will be unloaded at Chittagong port, while the remaining 22,756 tons will be directed to Mongla port.

Under the first agreement with the United States, Bangladesh had already imported a total of 220,000 tons of wheat.

The Food Ministry also stated that sample testing of the wheat onboard the ship has already begun. Once testing is complete, authorities will take necessary measures to expedite unloading and distribution.
