Dhaka, Dec 30 (V7N) — The Election Commission has announced that a total of 2,582 candidates have submitted nomination papers across all 300 parliamentary constituencies ahead of Bangladesh’s upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election.
According to an official press release issued by the Election Commission on Monday, nomination papers were filed in every parliamentary constituency across the country, marking a key phase in the election process. The submissions include candidates from major political parties as well as a significant number of independent aspirants.
Region-wise data shows that the Dhaka region recorded the highest number of nominations, with 444 candidates contesting 41 constituencies. In the Cumilla region, 365 nomination papers were submitted for 35 seats, while the Mymensingh region received 311 nominations across 38 constituencies. The Rangpur region saw 278 candidates submit papers for 33 seats, and the Khulna region recorded 276 nominations for 36 constituencies.
In the Rajshahi region, 260 candidates filed nominations for 39 seats, while the Chattogram region registered 194 nominations across 23 constituencies. The Barishal region received 166 nomination papers for 21 seats, the Sylhet region recorded 146 nominations for 19 seats, and the Faridpur region saw 142 candidates submit papers for 15 constituencies.
Election officials stated that the scrutiny of nomination papers will begin on Tuesday, December 30, and continue until January 4, 2026. During this period, returning officers will verify the eligibility of candidates and examine the submitted documents in accordance with electoral laws and regulations.
The Election Commission noted that subsequent stages of the election process, including appeals, finalization of candidate lists, symbol allocation, and campaigning, will proceed as per the announced schedule. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to conducting the election in a free, fair, and peaceful manner, ensuring equal opportunities for all eligible candidates across the country.
