Dhaka, Jan 17 (V7N) — The European Union (EU) has deployed 56 election observers across Bangladesh to monitor the overall preparations for the upcoming 13th National Parliament election.
The information was disclosed on Saturday (January 17) by Inta Lasse, Deputy Chief Observer of the EU Election Observation Mission, during a press conference.
He said the observers would play a vital role in conducting an impartial and evidence-based assessment of the electoral process. As part of their work, they will hold meetings with the election administration, political parties, candidates, civil society representatives, and citizen observer groups.
According to the EU mission, the observers will operate in all 64 districts of the country, covering both urban and rural areas. As election day approaches, an additional 90 short-term observers will be deployed.
In total, around 200 European Union observers will be present in the field on election day to monitor the voting and counting process.
Following the election, the EU Election Observation Mission will present its preliminary findings at a press conference in Dhaka.
