Dhaka, Jan 21 (V7N) — The Election Commission (EC) has urged Bangladeshi voters living abroad to complete their postal ballots and send them to the nearest post office by January 25 to ensure timely delivery.
The instruction was issued in a notification signed by EC Public Relations Director Ruhul Amin Mallick on Wednesday (January 21).
According to the notification, the deadline has been set to ensure that ballots cast by expatriate voters reach the concerned returning officers within the stipulated time and are included in the final count.
Meanwhile, Returning Officer Md. Yunuch Ali said that posters and handbills are prohibited during election campaigns. He made the remarks while exchanging views with rival candidates at the Election Commission on Wednesday morning.
He clarified that microphones may be used on auto-rickshaws during campaigning, but candidates must ensure that such use does not cause environmental or noise pollution.
The Returning Officer also informed that there are 265 polling centers across the Dhaka-13 and Dhaka-15 constituencies. He added that CCTV cameras have been installed in most of the polling centers as part of measures to ensure a fair and secure voting environment.
