Dhaka, Jan 22 (V7N) — Chief Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus has expressed deep shock and sorrow over the death of M Hafiz Uddin Khan, former advisor to the caretaker government and a prominent civil society activist.
In a condolence message issued on Wednesday night, the Chief Advisor recalled with deep respect Hafiz Uddin Khan’s significant contributions to the state and public welfare throughout his long and distinguished career.
Describing him as an honest, wise, and responsible public servant, Dr. Yunus said Hafiz Uddin Khan’s dedication and moral integrity in public service would remain an exemplary model for future generations.
He also spoke emotionally about their personal relationship, noting that Hafiz Uddin Khan was not only his classmate but also a close friend.
“His wisdom, humanity, and courage in speaking the truth enriched my life on many occasions. With his passing, I have lost a trusted colleague and a dear friend,” the Chief Advisor said.
Dr. Yunus added that the nation would remember Hafiz Uddin Khan with respect for the honesty, efficiency, and professionalism he demonstrated in his official duties, as well as for his role in strengthening good governance in later years.
The Chief Advisor prayed for the forgiveness of the departed soul and extended deep condolences to the bereaved family members.
M Hafiz Uddin Khan passed away on Wednesday evening due to old age. He previously served as Secretary of the Ministry of Posts, Telegraphs and Telecommunications and later as an Advisor to several key ministries, including Finance and Planning, during the caretaker government of 2001.
