Students at the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) persisted in their protest for the second consecutive day on Saturday, denouncing the presence of Chhatra League activists on campus during the night, where political engagement is prohibited.

In response to the students' outcry, the administration took action by revoking the hall seat of the implicated student, Imtiaz Hossain Rahim. However, the protesters demand his permanent expulsion from the university by 2pm on Saturday.

Following their outlined plan, demonstrators stationed themselves at various Buet entrances by 8am on Saturday. By 11am, they congregated at the university's Shaheed Minar to address the media, reaffirming their six-point demands, with the foremost being the permanent expulsion of the accused student.

In a written statement outlining their updated demands, they expressed concerns over the intrusion of outsiders onto the campus on March 28 and reiterated their stance against student politics at Buet.

The students' demands include:

  1. Permanent expulsion of Imtiaz Rabbi from Buet and cancellation of his hall seat by 9am, as he organized the unauthorized political rally on campus.
  2. Identification and permanent expulsion from Buet of students involved with Imtiaz in the incident, along with others identified from media footage.
  3. Accountability from the administration regarding the unauthorized campus entry and assurance of legal action.
  4. Enforcement of strict regulations for student safety, including restrictions on staying on campus after 10:30pm.
  5. Boycott of term finals on March 30 and all academic activities on March 31 to protest against safety concerns.
  6. Assurance of no retaliatory action against protesting students.

The students reiterated their commitment to upholding Buet's prohibition against student politics and emphasized their condemnation of any misrepresentation of their movement's intentions. They reaffirmed their stance against student politics in line with Buet's constitution.
