Dhaka, Feb 12, (V7N) – The Election Commission (EC) today reiterated that obstructing movement to polling centres, buying and selling votes, and casting fake ballots are punishable offenses, warning that strict action will be taken against violators.

In a notification signed by EC Secretariat Director (Public Relations) Md Ruhul Amin Mallick, the commission said police personnel on duty are equipped with hidden cameras to record activities at polling centres. “Strict action will be taken against those responsible,” the statement read.

The EC added that all centres are under CCTV surveillance, while drones are being deployed at other locations to monitor the situation. It urged voters and political activists to refrain from any illegal or disruptive activities during the voting process, stressing that attempts to create chaos will not be tolerated.
