President Mohammed Shahabuddin has directed the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to take immediate and effective steps to address human rights violations across the country.

The directive was given during a meeting where a delegation led by NHRC Chairman Kamal Uddin Ahmed presented the commission's annual report-2023 at Bangabhaban.

Press Secretary Joynal Abedin briefed reporters after the meeting, highlighting the President's emphasis on the NHRC's role in preventing human rights violations.

President Shahabuddin stressed the commission's primary responsibility to safeguard human rights and urged it to undertake necessary measures, including public awareness campaigns, to ensure the protection of these rights.

The delegation provided an overview of the commission's activities and key findings from the annual report during the meeting.

Secretaries concerned to the President were also present at the discussion, underscoring the government's commitment to addressing human rights issues.
