DHAKA, Feb 17, 2026 – Diplomatic ties between Bangladesh and its neighboring nations were highlighted today as Maldivian President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, Bhutanese Prime Minister Dasho Tshering Tobgay, and Nepalese Foreign Minister Bala Nanda Sharma arrived in Dhaka to attend the official oath-taking ceremony of Bangladesh’s new cabinet, led by BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman.
Dr Muizzu was welcomed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport by Bangladesh's Foreign Adviser M Touhid Hossain. His visit marks a significant milestone in the diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and the Maldives, reflecting cooperation and commitment to strengthening bilateral ties.
Similarly, Bhutan’s Prime Minister Dasho Tshering Tobgay, attending the ceremony as a guest, reaffirmed Bhutan's longstanding friendship with Bangladesh. A press release from the Bhutanese embassy stated that the Prime Minister’s attendance is symbolic of Bhutan’s support for Bangladesh’s political progress and the ongoing bond between the two nations.
In another important diplomatic gesture, Nepal’s Foreign Minister Bala Nanda Sharma also arrived in Dhaka. He was greeted by Dr Md Nazrul Islam, Secretary of Bangladesh's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Nepalese Ambassador to Bangladesh Ghanashyam Bhandari. The visit of the Nepalese delegation is seen as an affirmation of the longstanding and cordial relations between the two countries, emphasizing their commitment to enhancing cooperation in various sectors.
