DHAKA, Feb 17, (V7N) – BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman has been elected as the leader of the parliamentary party during a meeting of the party’s newly elected parliament members (MPs) held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban today.
The election took place at around 11:30 am, following the oath-taking ceremony for the newly elected BNP MPs in the 13th national elections. The swearing-in ceremony was conducted by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin at 10:43 am in the Oath Room of the Jatiya Sangsad.
Following the oath-taking, the BNP parliamentary party gathered for its meeting, where Tarique Rahman was formally elected as its leader. The announcement was made by BNP media cell member Shairul Kabir Khan, who briefed reporters about the development.
This move consolidates Rahman’s leadership role within the party as it takes its place in the newly formed parliament.
