Dhaka, Feb 22 (V7N) – Leaders of Natundhara Bangladesh (NDB) have demanded that political slogans be delivered in Bangla, not Urdu or any other language, after paying tribute at the Central Shaheed Minar. They called for united efforts from political parties and citizens to ensure the implementation of this demand.
Under the leadership of Chairman Momin Mahadi, Presidium Member Kazi Munni Alam, Senior Vice Chairman Shanta Farjana, Vice Chairman Dr. Nurjahan Nira, Joint Secretary General Monir Zaman, Member Hashem Molla, and National Shikkhadhara Member Mishrat Pathar, the leaders offered wreaths at 8:30 a.m. Speaking to the media afterward, they criticized MPs who attend Parliament wearing jerseys with English writing during Language Month, stating that such actions are anti-state and oppose Bangla language, literature, culture, education, and civilization.
They further alleged that some individuals, at a young age, formed a new political party with Jamaat’s backing—not for the nation or people but to gain political power and benefits. These groups later formed an alliance with Jamaat. According to NDB leaders, these groups insult the mother tongue by using Urdu slogans like “Inqilab Zindabad” or “Insaf Zindabad” on platforms such as “Inqilab Manch,” which they claimed signify support for Pakistan, Urdu, conspiracies, and corruption.
After 18 months of mob rule, they said, the people now pray for a peaceful Bangladesh led by students, youth, and citizens. However, certain individuals who became MPs through student politics or subtle manipulation are obstructing this peaceful Bangladesh. NDB urged pro-independence citizens across the country to unite against such forces.
Referring to Jamaat Amir paying respects at the Shaheed Minar 74 years after the Language Movement, Chairman Momin Mahadi warned that Jamaat-Shibir-NCP and similar groups might be plotting new conspiracies against Bangladesh and the Bangla language, urging all citizens to remain vigilant.
